What this site is

A privately published guide to Vanuatu citizenship by investment, written for readers holding Indian nationality. Its first purpose is to state plainly what such an application does to Indian citizenship, because that consequence is frequently understated elsewhere.

Independent of any government

Nothing here originates with the Government of Vanuatu or with any authority of India. This is not the Vanuatu Citizenship Office or Commission, not the Financial Intelligence Unit, not the Ministry of Home Affairs and not any consular service, and it holds no designation from any of them.

Not advice on Indian nationality law

Statements on this site about the effect of acquiring another citizenship on Indian nationality describe well-established provisions of Article 9 of the Constitution and the Citizenship Act 1955. They are a general description and not legal advice about your position. Before acting, take advice from Indian legal counsel and confirm the current position with the Ministry of Home Affairs. The consequences of proceeding on a misunderstanding fall on you and are not reversible.

No outcome is promised

Citizenship of Vanuatu is granted by the Vanuatu Citizenship Commission at its discretion. Nobody can assure approval, fix a date or recover a fee once the corresponding work has begun. The due diligence fee is not refunded where the check is failed.

OCI

Where this site describes the Overseas Citizen of India card it does so to explain what former citizens may apply for. OCI is not citizenship, is granted on application rather than automatically, may be refused or cancelled, and does not restore voting rights, eligibility for public office or the right to acquire agricultural land. Nothing here should be read as an assurance that OCI will be granted.

Information ages

Programme rules, fees and visa arrangements change. What is written here was checked against official sources on the date shown with each page and may have been superseded since.

Travel access

Statements about visa-free access describe the position when written and are determined by each destination. The European Union suspended visa-free access for Vanuatu citizens in February 2023 and the United Kingdom made Vanuatu a visa national country in July 2023.
